Celebrate the joy of your commitment to marriage with a meaningful ceremony in a beautiful environment. This is both a life-changing and joyful occasion in the lives of couples, their families and friends. Our minister, Rev Laurie McKnight, together with the couple, will craft the marriage ceremony according to the wishes, particular background and spiritual understandings of the couple. We uphold the Christian heritage of the United Church but are open to honouring other faith expressions as part of the ceremony. The sanctuary can be decorated with your own creativity and imagination if that will be your venue.
ARRANGING A MARRIAGE SERVICE
The first step in moving toward marriage is to contact the church office for an interview. Our administrator’s name is Patrick Saumur. It is best to arrange the ceremony several months in advance of the desired date of the wedding service and usually before your reception hall is booked. If you decide to be married in St. Paul’s-Eastern United church, or in a venue which you have chosen, a date is booked. We will provide guidelines for you to follow when planning your wedding and discuss the fees. A pre-marriage counselling course is not a requirement but is available if you wish to explore your relationship in this way. If you are providing your own minister, and would like to arrange to see the facilities, contact the office to set up an appointment. Our church hall is also available to host a reception.
If requested, an organist is available to play for your wedding. Our sanctuary has two grand pianos. We also have a number of talented soloists who are available to sing at your wedding service. You may also invite your own musicians to play or make use of recorded music.
SUPPORT AFTER THE WEDDING
St. Paul’s-Eastern United Church is a welcoming and caring community in which both the joys and struggles of life are shared and celebrated. The weekly Sunday service offers focus for your lives, connection with people with common values, a time to meet new friends, and time to discover a source of spiritual strengthening and renewal for your lives.
